Is it also possible to have small children run two days a week?
By law, every child must attend school at least 15 hours a week. Our concept is based on a total package of 4 full days per week. This applies to every family. Wijs uses this from a pedagogical point of view, where peace and continuity are paramount.
What does a day look like at Wise?

Walk-in between 08:00 and 09:00, free play outside.

At 9am we start together with body awareness, through movement therapy, breathing exercises or yoga, and open the day as a community.
After this “opening” the children go their own way, working on personal goals and projects, individually, collaboratively or with coaching.
Rest moment with vegetables, fruit, tea or water and music or a story. Then play outside.
Children are encouraged to indicate what they want to learn, with activities that fit the Wijs theme.
From researching the size of the sun to coming up with a dance choreography, every day offers new possibilities.

Joint lunch at the table between 12:00 and 13:00

A changing group of children prepare lunch together with the cook, for which they collect ingredients from the vegetable garden and local organic groceries.
After an hour of mindful eating, the children tidy up, clean and wash the dishes as a team.

Afternoon program:

Working on the inner world from peace and quiet. Children complete this according to their own needs and insights.

This includes silent reading, yoga, meditation, puzzling, drawing, painting, sand table or box, clay, taking care of animals, working in the vegetable garden.

No, we are not funded by the government.

What does the hiring policy look like?

1: Statement of Intent: The parents sign this statement.

2: First introductory meeting: This conversation is held with both parents/guardians and the entire hiring board of Heel-Wijs. Here, the vision of Heel-Wijs is shared with the parents and questions can be asked. The child himself is not yet present for this conversation.

3: Wise workshop for the parents: This is a workshop where parents are, as it were, “deschooled” from regular education and current society's view of education. Here parents are taught to look at education differently if they are not already doing so. But this workshop ensures that all eyes are pointed in the same direction. Several parents will participate in this.

4: Introduction period with Wise: Now that steps 1, 2 and 3 have been completed and have been approved by both sides, the child will have the opportunity to become acquainted with Heel-Wijs. This is an indefinite period for the child to get a taste of the new education. There will also be a day for parents to watch from the sidelines to see exactly what happens on a day of Heel-Wijs.

5: Hiring interview Heel-Wijs: As soon as all previous steps have been completed positively, by the parents, the child and the Heel-Wijs team, the hiring interview will take place. Everyone will be present at this meeting, both the child and the parents and the Heel-Wijs hiring board. Everything is carefully reviewed here so that everything is clear to all parties. N.a.v. During this conversation, the first image of the child will be recorded in our tracking system.

Where will Wise settle?
We are currently working on various locations in different municipalities. It depends on which municipality gives the first approval in terms of spatial planning, where we will realize our first location.
What are the costs?

How can I contribute?

We are very happy with all the help! You can contribute in different ways. You can support us with a gift or investment. You can help us become visible on social media by following us. When the school is running, parents are more involved than in a regular school.

Does my child fall under compulsory education law when he or she is registered with Wise?
Yes, your child will then be subject to compulsory education.
Good that you don't do 'backpacks. How do you guarantee the best development of the children?

By 'not backpacking' we mean that we do not want to label the child. We assume that every child develops in his or her own way and at his or her pace.
By ‘ not doing backpacks ’ we mean that we do not want to label the child. We assume that every child develops in his or her way. We think from and work on development in breadth and focus on developing confidence. We work on both head ( knowledge ), heart ( from internal motivation and what the child likes to do ) and hands ( are physically busy ). Then a child automatically becomes the best version of himself. Nobody can give guarantees, but love, support and trust!

Are children with Down syndrome also welcome?

Every child is different. Similarly, a child with Down syndrome. These children are sometimes also in a regular primary school. His are also welcome at Wise.

Looking at the child itself is part of the hiring policy. We always talk to the parents in advance. We discuss whether the child needs individual guidance, whether we can provide that guidance and whether specialization is needed. On that basis, we make a decision together with the parents.
